Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I become a member of such a cool organization?
- WCSB is always looking for new and talented DJs to carry on the tradition of WCSB as an avant garde and free-spirited radio station.
- There are four requirements.
- You need to be registered for classes at CSU.
- You need to LOVE music. (music snobbery is optional)
- You need to know what WCSB is all about. We are here to provide an alternative to the crap that passes on commercial radio.
- You need to be able to follow some basic (but VERY important) rules, and dedicate several hours a year to the station and events we hold.
- If you are interested stop by the 4th floor of the Cole Center and pick up an application, or get in touch with the Program Director.
- How do I listen to WCSB over the internet?
- WCSB offers high-speed (DSL/Cable) and low-speed (dail-up) connection options for our internet users. On the listen page you can find links to our live streams. You should choose the link next to the icon of the audio player you wish to use. iTunes users should use one of the MP3 streams.
If you experience a problem with our live streams please contact our system administrator.
- What is your underwriting policy?
- Since we are a non-commercial radio station we are forbidden from selling our souls to the capitalist monster..er..selling advertising. We do however, allow underwriting. What’s the difference? Underwriting allows for an organization or establishment to announce their name, location, and services offered.
For instance: “This program is underwritten by Jimmy’s Kielbasa Shack. Located at 5454 Pearl Rd. in Parma, Jimmy’s sells European style smoked meats.”
For rates and more information contact the Development Director.
- How do I submit a PSA for my group or event?
- Please submit all PSA information to the WCSB Promotions Director. Please following these guidelines.
- Announcement should make no call to action.
Example bad PSA: “Come on out to our Kielbasa Grill 2004!”
Example good PSA: “If you like kielbasa then you may be interested in our Kielbasa Grill 2004!”
Example bad PSA: “For information call 555-1313.”
Example good PSA: “For information you can call 555-1313.”
- Announcement should make no qualitative statements.
Example bad PSA: “Our Kielbasa Grill 2004 is going to be the greatest!”
Example good PSA: “Our Kielbasa Grill 2004 will be held on June 11th…”
- Announcement should be sent atleast 3 weeks prior to the event.
- Announcement should be no longer than 1 minute.
- Please note: we reserve the right to edit your psa for clarity, time, and content. Due to the large number of PSAs that we receive a submission does not guarantee airplay. You can contact the Promotions Director for more information.
