Billboard Magazine award recipient, Laurie Dameron, has been playing the guitar for over 40 years and singing even longer. Between solo performances and performances with her band, Laurie D and the Blues Babes, she has performed for hundreds of venues in and out of Colorado over the past 20 years.
Laurie is versatile including selections from folk, instrumental, pop, country, blues, and jazz; a broad repertoire that allows her to please audiences of any age from children to seniors. Performances include 2006 and 2007Tribute to John Denver Benefit Concerts for Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder Creek Festival, Denver Capital Hill People's Fair and A Taste of Colorado. Laurie had the honor of performing, among many songs, her “What Can I Do” (to help this planet…) at the 2008 Colorado Democratic Convention.
She is also an active environmentalist and is on the Chinook Clubhouse’s speaker's bureau speaking in public about mental health issues and often incorporates her environmental/social originals into her shows and talks about such issues to help educate audiences and raise awareness.
Laurie has composed, arranged and produced two CDs, “Utah Dream” (folk and blues) and “Looking Through the Blue” (jazz compositions). Her third and newest CD is a compilation of her favorite jazz standards and one original, the title cut, “I Can’t Wait to See You Again”. Dameron's song, “I Can't Wait to See You Again”, received an award of honorable mention for the 16th and 17th Annual Billboard Magazine World Song Contest.
Dameron is thrilled to be performing in her home town of Berea, Ohio. She was born in Berea in 1960 and lived there until 1974 when she moved to Boulder, Colorado. She attributes the reason for her being so passionate about environmental issues to have grown up near the Cuyahoga River which had caught on fire more that once in the sixties.

(cont)
“Dameron’s playing is a nice blend of old school Jazz Guitar, Rock n’ Roll double stops and swing blues. Her Guitar tone is crisp and smooth, giving her just enough bite for when she does her Bluesy Jazz thang…”
--Lyle Robinson, Jazz Guitar Life Magazine

“Based in Colorado, Dameron has an echoey acoustic sound on her guitar that is slightly reminiscent of Pat Metheny at times. Her music is soothing, danceable (but with subtle rhythms) and pleasing.”
--Scott Yanow, Los Angeles Jazz Scene

“Utah Dream is "a CD consisting of classic folk, jazz and blues underlined by the lilt of a voice so distinct that only one word could describe it: beautiful." -- Laurence Washington, Boulder Daily Camera music critic
"Delicate voice and confident guitar mark her work..." -- David Thomas, Denver Post
R.I.P. Bob Bogle
(born January 16, 1934 - June 14, 2009)

SKY SAXON

Sky "Sunlight" Saxon was an American rock and roll musician who was best known as the leader and singer of the 1960s Los Angeles garage rock band The Seeds.

Saxon was born Richard Elvern Marsh in Salt Lake City, Utah. Different sources suggest a birth year of 1937, 1945 or 1946.His widow has said that his birthday was August 20, but would not confirm the year because he believed age was irrelevant.

He began his career performing doo-wop pop tunes in the early 1960s under the name Little Richie Marsh. After changing his name to Sky Saxon, he formed the Electra-Fires in 1962 and then Sky Saxon & the Soul Rockers. In 1965, Saxon founded the psychedelic flower power band The Seeds with Jan Savage (guitar), Rick Andridge (keyboards) and Darryl Hooper (drums). Hit songs for Saxon and the Seeds included "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and "(You're) Pushin' Too Hard", which became a top 40 song in 1967. Saxon's singing performance has been dismissed by critics like Lester Bangs of Rolling Stone Magazine as an American imitation of Mick Jagger, while others considered it a more complicated synthesis of Jagger, Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly. The music on the Seeds 1966 albums The Seeds and A Web of Sound has been described as "weird psychotic blues highlighting Sky's demented vocal sermonizing."

Saxon broke up the Seeds band in 1967 and formed the Sky Saxon Blues Band. After the release of one album, A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues, Saxon reestablished the Seeds but the group did not attract any mainstream attention.

In the 1970s, Saxon became a member of the Source Family religious group, a Hollywood Hills commune led by YaHoWha who gave Saxon the names Sunlight and Arlick. In 1998, Saxon orchestrated the release of a 13-CD set of the psychedelic tribal music recorded by the commune's band Ya Ho Wa 13 during the 1970s.

In subsequent years, Saxon released a number of albums under various band names including The Starry Seeds Band, Sky Saxon & FirewallKing Arthur's Court, and Shapes Have Fangs Additionally, Saxon had several times reformed The Seeds with different musician line-ups.

In 2008, Saxon and the Seeds collaborated on some new songs and recordings with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. Saxon later appeared in the music video of the Smashing Pumpkins' song "Superchrist".

Saxon died on June 25, 2009, in an Austin, Texas hospital. He had been hospitalized with what doctors suspected was an infection of the internal organs, but the cause of death has not yet been released. He was initially reported to be 63 years old, though other sources listed him as 71.

BOB BOGLE

Robert Lenard "Bob" Bogle was a founding member of the legendary instrumental combo group The Ventures. He and Don Wilson founded the group in 1958. Bogle was the lead guitarist and later bassist of the group. In 2008, Bogle and other members of The Ventures were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Performer category.

Born near Wagoner, Oklahoma, Bogle worked as a bricklayer in California from the age of 15. A self-taught guitar player, Bogle met Don Wilson in Seattle in 1958, where they worked together on construction sites. They went on to form a band, The Versatones, which evolved into The Ventures. Bogle's lead guitar on the Ventures' 1960 cover of "Walk, Don't Run" helped to influence the next generation of guitarists including John Fogerty, Steve Miller, Joe Walsh and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bogle's use of the tremolo arm was particularly notable.

The Ventures song, Wild Child, was sampled by The Wiseguys on Start The Commotion, giving Bogle his only hit writing credit on the British charts, reaching number 47 and spending 2 weeks on the chart.
