Billboard Magazine award recipient, Laurie Dameron, has been playing the guitar for over 40 years and singing even longer. Between solo performances and performances with her band, Laurie D and the Blues Babes, she has performed for hundreds of venues in and out of Colorado over the past 20 years.
Laurie is versatile including selections from folk, instrumental, pop, country, blues, and jazz; a broad repertoire that allows her to please audiences of any age from children to seniors. Performances include 2006 and 2007Tribute to John Denver Benefit Concerts for Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder Creek Festival, Denver Capital Hill People's Fair and A Taste of Colorado. Laurie had the honor of performing, among many songs, her “What Can I Do” (to help this planet…) at the 2008 Colorado Democratic Convention.
She is also an active environmentalist and is on the Chinook Clubhouse’s speaker's bureau speaking in public about mental health issues and often incorporates her environmental/social originals into her shows and talks about such issues to help educate audiences and raise awareness.
Laurie has composed, arranged and produced two CDs, “Utah Dream” (folk and blues) and “Looking Through the Blue” (jazz compositions). Her third and newest CD is a compilation of her favorite jazz standards and one original, the title cut, “I Can’t Wait to See You Again”. Dameron's song, “I Can't Wait to See You Again”, received an award of honorable mention for the 16th and 17th Annual Billboard Magazine World Song Contest.
Dameron is thrilled to be performing in her home town of Berea, Ohio. She was born in Berea in 1960 and lived there until 1974 when she moved to Boulder, Colorado. She attributes the reason for her being so passionate about environmental issues to have grown up near the Cuyahoga River which had caught on fire more that once in the sixties.

(cont)
“Dameron’s playing is a nice blend of old school Jazz Guitar, Rock n’ Roll double stops and swing blues. Her Guitar tone is crisp and smooth, giving her just enough bite for when she does her Bluesy Jazz thang…”
--Lyle Robinson, Jazz Guitar Life Magazine

“Based in Colorado, Dameron has an echoey acoustic sound on her guitar that is slightly reminiscent of Pat Metheny at times. Her music is soothing, danceable (but with subtle rhythms) and pleasing.”
--Scott Yanow, Los Angeles Jazz Scene

“Utah Dream is "a CD consisting of classic folk, jazz and blues underlined by the lilt of a voice so distinct that only one word could describe it: beautiful." -- Laurence Washington, Boulder Daily Camera music critic
"Delicate voice and confident guitar mark her work..." -- David Thomas, Denver Post
R.I.P. Bob Bogle
(born January 16, 1934 - June 14, 2009)

SKY SAXON

Sky "Sunlight" Saxon was an American rock and roll musician who was best known as the leader and singer of the 1960s Los Angeles garage rock band The Seeds.

Saxon was born Richard Elvern Marsh in Salt Lake City, Utah. Different sources suggest a birth year of 1937, 1945 or 1946.His widow has said that his birthday was August 20, but would not confirm the year because he believed age was irrelevant.

He began his career performing doo-wop pop tunes in the early 1960s under the name Little Richie Marsh. After changing his name to Sky Saxon, he formed the Electra-Fires in 1962 and then Sky Saxon & the Soul Rockers. In 1965, Saxon founded the psychedelic flower power band The Seeds with Jan Savage (guitar), Rick Andridge (keyboards) and Darryl Hooper (drums). Hit songs for Saxon and the Seeds included "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and "(You're) Pushin' Too Hard", which became a top 40 song in 1967. Saxon's singing performance has been dismissed by critics like Lester Bangs of Rolling Stone Magazine as an American imitation of Mick Jagger, while others considered it a more complicated synthesis of Jagger, Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly. The music on the Seeds 1966 albums The Seeds and A Web of Sound has been described as "weird psychotic blues highlighting Sky's demented vocal sermonizing."

Saxon broke up the Seeds band in 1967 and formed the Sky Saxon Blues Band. After the release of one album, A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues, Saxon reestablished the Seeds but the group did not attract any mainstream attention.

In the 1970s, Saxon became a member of the Source Family religious group, a Hollywood Hills commune led by YaHoWha who gave Saxon the names Sunlight and Arlick. In 1998, Saxon orchestrated the release of a 13-CD set of the psychedelic tribal music recorded by the commune's band Ya Ho Wa 13 during the 1970s.

In subsequent years, Saxon released a number of albums under various band names including The Starry Seeds Band, Sky Saxon & FirewallKing Arthur's Court, and Shapes Have Fangs Additionally, Saxon had several times reformed The Seeds with different musician line-ups.

In 2008, Saxon and the Seeds collaborated on some new songs and recordings with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. Saxon later appeared in the music video of the Smashing Pumpkins' song "Superchrist".

Saxon died on June 25, 2009, in an Austin, Texas hospital. He had been hospitalized with what doctors suspected was an infection of the internal organs, but the cause of death has not yet been released. He was initially reported to be 63 years old, though other sources listed him as 71.

BOB BOGLE

Robert Lenard "Bob" Bogle was a founding member of the legendary instrumental combo group The Ventures. He and Don Wilson founded the group in 1958. Bogle was the lead guitarist and later bassist of the group. In 2008, Bogle and other members of The Ventures were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Performer category.

Born near Wagoner, Oklahoma, Bogle worked as a bricklayer in California from the age of 15. A self-taught guitar player, Bogle met Don Wilson in Seattle in 1958, where they worked together on construction sites. They went on to form a band, The Versatones, which evolved into The Ventures. Bogle's lead guitar on the Ventures' 1960 cover of "Walk, Don't Run" helped to influence the next generation of guitarists including John Fogerty, Steve Miller, Joe Walsh and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bogle's use of the tremolo arm was particularly notable.

The Ventures song, Wild Child, was sampled by The Wiseguys on Start The Commotion, giving Bogle his only hit writing credit on the British charts, reaching number 47 and spending 2 weeks on the chart.

most of these records will be from really weird/druggy/outsider/underground type artists, but will span most categories (noise/drone/rock/punk/soul/jazz/psych/weird etc.), and will range from old stuff to current stuff. a lot of these i've gotten from stores like BENT CRAYON, CHRIS WARPED RECORDS and MY MIND'S EYE and the like over the past several years.

pricing will range from moderate to cheap to cheaper...i'll have $1 bins, $3 bins, $5 bins, $8 bins and maybe 10 or higher, as well as cheap 4/dollar bins. i take generally good care of my records, so 95% are in good, playable shape if not near mint. if something is beat up i will tell you. i will also be willing to knock off a few bucks if you end up buying a lot of stuff.

there will probably be some cheap cds and 7"s and maybe even some noise tapes too.

so come check it out. 1828 West 45th street in OHIO CITY, a few houses south of Franklin

A cross, between Saigon Kick and Evanescence, with a dash of undescribable, makes Ellsbeth a unique force to be reckoned with. Lead vocalist Shannon Quamme, has a vocal range that's clear and flawless. The entire band fits together, to give your ears a treat, even live and unmastered. Their Debut CD was officially released to Snocap, April 1, 2009 and it's quickly looking like this album will be a collectors gem.

After many chat sessions with Ellsbeth and their very dedicated, street team and fans, It's easy to say, without a doubt, everyone is passionately dedicated to the musical cause. The fans back their favorite band with unwavering loyalty and Ellsbeth brings a live performance that brings them back for more. Nearly a dozen radio stations began airing Ellsbeths songs Eden and Defy, weeks before the CD's official release date. FM station managers are so impressed, they were releasing un-mastered tracks, direct for airplay!

Some of the most notiable tracks include, My Release-a dark and driven metal tune of epic preportions, Breathe-a somber operatic build-up, to an anthemic vocal harmony and of course, Defy-without a doubt, this could be a huge hit. Defy-is a perfect combination of metal symphony, with a mantra like chorus, that holds your attention. It has a slight 'Saigon Kick' feel, for those who remember that bands unique brand of music.

The Album-Well Dressed Killing Machine, can be streamed through Ellbeths My Space player, for those who want to sample the music. http://www.myspace.com/ellsbeth

I am really curious which artist was being played following the announcement of Dan Lenheart's "GIVE BACK" organization, he is to be the guest speaker (or already was) who can enlighten us Clevelanders on service opportunities, mission and purpose of the organization within our local community.

When the announcement was made following the "Welcome to My Adventure" series on at 10pm 2/1/09--an interesting riff came on that was for the most part very psychaedellic, instrumentally-influential, but definitely not completely original as the early 70's saw improvisation such as this. The riff wants to climax but is forever tweaked, persistent and beginning to resemble a copycat version of some of the portions of Rush's SUBDIVISIONS album or Emerson, Lake & Palmer's BRAIN SALAD SURGERY--this riff winds and grinds and offers a spasmodic array of guitar and drums sliding along the weird scale.

By 10:25pm EST the original song riff playing went into synthesized repetitions emitting a technical conditioning before embarking on some phenomenol mind trip and i want to know who this artist was ?

Can anyone help ?

Greetings everyone!

I'm Ka-Chi, an independent singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist. I've just released a new album titled "Come on Home" and am very glad that songs from the album are now being played on WCSB's African Abstract hosted by Charleston Okafor on Sundays from 7-9pm. Last December (07) I toured through Cleveland and performed at The Grog Shop and I met a number of you good CSU folk. Thanks for coming out and supporting!

Since my songs are being featured here, I just thought I'd take a second to browse through your forum and introduce myself. As an independent artist, I'm very appreciative of the opportunity to be heard over the airwaves and online, so thanks again for playing my music, and for your listenership. I do hope you enjoy the tunes and that you connect with the messages being delivered.

This new album features love songs like "I Love You", songs about life and it's uncertainties like "Life of Compromise", social justice songs like "Mr Policeman" and introspective acoustic tracks like "Fools Goal". The album was written and recorded during the last two years while I toured the country supporting my deput EP "Soul Liberty-Demo Sessions" and spreading my message of Soul Liberty (Seeking Freedom, Pursuing Happiness through Love, and Living in Truth). I've tried to encompass my experiences over the years into this project and everyone can find a subject they can relate to on the album. I must reiterate that I am thankful that the music is getting out there to you through this medium.

I plan to come out to Cleveland again ASAP, and I hope to meet many of you, as well as reconnect with the good people I met first time out. Until then, keep up the good work WCSB, and keep listening CSU and environs!

Peace...One Love

I live in Picksburgh, PA and when I was......ohhhhhhh......about 18 years of age (now that's about 12 years ago) my brother worked at a bakery in town and the lady there would always travel to Brushwood. One day she brought him back a cassette tape called Einstein Secret Orchestra. Well when the digital age switched from tapes to cd's I started a frantic search to find a cd version of their stuff. Alas today I was told on the Subgenuis IRC that Chas passed away - I'm not sure if it was a bad joke or not, but I'm in serious search of any ESO stuff that is out there.

I will pay for old cd's you might have laying around. Let me know price (with S+H) and you darn will have a check in the mail!!!!

The tape I owned had a cover of Sounds of Silence, a performance at the Pufferdom (sp?), a song about a monkey, and on side two there was two long radio performances from what I guess was the SWAMP Show. One has one lyric repeated over and over again saying - 20 million miles from space.

tl;dr
I'm looking for Einstein Secret Orchestra cd's. I'll buy used or new. Name the price, the shipping, the handling and where you want the money sent to. Thanks!
