birthday memories in cleveland

gary numan at house of blues-i bought his "cars/metal" 7" when i was 10. added an extra day onto my birhtday vacation to catch his show at house of blues. he was a lot more animated than i thought him to be. maybe aviation has something to do with it. even wore camoflauge and did a fine unintentional instrumental version of "are friends electric". $2 tecate's too. how was billy idol????

cuyhoga-sonic youth/flaming lips/death cab etc-blossom is the nicest outdoor venue ive been to. too many coors light booths though. peter the third would be proud. sonic youth were brilliant as usual. and someone wrote bout wayne coyne having to do it in a bubble these days. don't forgit those stupid puppets too. its amazing the affect small pieces of paper and balloons have on large crowds.

voinivich park-KISS ARMY rally-what a great cause.

parish hall-red krayola/home and garden-met keith who was tellin me bout glenn schwartz and how he plays every thursday in cleveland. after, i felt i should have gone checked him out rather than the lips. next time keith. talked bout joe walsh's days in memphis. his bud, roy, got me baked. then caught the wonderful HOME AND GARDEN show. somehow the singer knew it was my birthday and i got a little stuffed green crocodile and a pbr outta it from the nice folks at parish. ironically, i saw keith appropriately rockin out to sonic youth one row up on thursday and then just happened upon him at parish hall saturday.

city grill-detroit avenue-across from parish hall. if yer lucky tammy is workin and cathy is playin "pour some sugar on me" on the box. no bar-b-q anymore but philly cheese steaks and full bar.

When I turned 26 a few years ago, my dude and I spent 4+ hours @ The Gold Horse. Drank AT LEAST a fifth of Ketel One. Even "kinda-knowing" even one dancer gets you a lot of free, quality attention. Then a couple hours at The Richland Tavern for $2 vodka night. The Debauchery ended w/ Heavy Metal Karaoke @ The Hi-Fi (every Wed. w/ a real 3 pc. band and no fucking machine). I pounded a pitcher of PBR and sang "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden.
