Halloween songs/music/CDs

I thought it might be interesting to compile a list of Halloween favorites. Of course there are acts that base their entire steez on being Halloween-oriented, or macabre/ghoulish/whatever, such as the Cramps, Misfits, various goth bands, and
compilations like "New Wave Halloween," but I bet
we could come up with some more off-the-wall items.
I'll kick it off with "It's Halloween" from the
Shaggs' first LP, and "Closed on Account of Rabies,"
a multi-artist homage to Edgar Allan Poe, produced by Hal Willner, with Christopher Walken, Iggy Pop,
Diamanda Galas, and Jeff Buckley. Oh, and most every Fall album has at least one track with a supernatural or macabre theme...

And hey -- here are a few more recent additions for Halloween playlists:

"Juliet Of The Spirits", by the B-52s; off their latest: 'FUNFLICKS'.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell", by Michelle Shocked.

That last song is a delightfully creepy oddity wherein Shelley tells us about an owl changing her into a RABBIT.

Yoy, KEITH!

Let us not forget that the original "Horror Of Party Bleach -- er, BEACH" features 'The Zombie Stomp' on its soundtrack; I think it was performed by the Del-Vikings (or the Del-something).

The Easter Monkeys? BOO'YAH! And let us not forget their udder great Halloweener: 'My Baby Digs Graveyards'!

The Ghastly Ones had an acer with their LP 'A-HAUNTING WE WILL GO'. And so did the Bomboras with 'HEADSHRINKING FUN'.

Deadbolt's best Halloweener has gotta be 'Hank Watson Stalks The Earth' on 'SHRUNKEN HEADS'.

Of course, the myriad volumes of 'BACK FROM THE GRAVE' are chuck-full of Halloweeny ghouldness. My favorites: 'Ghost Power' by the Cords, and 'Werewolf' by Morgus and The Derringers. However, I rather doubt that the aforementioned Morgus of that latter song was the actual Morgus the Magnificent, who haunted New Orleans' sundry teevee stations hosting bad horror/sci-fi movies back during Cleveland's own Ghoulardi/Hoolihan-and-Big-Chuck years.

You know, many teevee horror movie-hosts made records and CDs over the past half-century -- especially Zacherley, Elvira, and the MST 3000 robots. Tarantula Ghoul, who was apparently the first horror host in Salem, Oregon, released one or two LPs as Tarantula Ghoul and The Gravediggers. You might want to dig it up.

Later for now.

Easter Monkeys- Camera Fo (A song about Ghoulardi)
The Ghastly Ones - we have one of their cd's and it is filled with tons of spoky tunes
Deadbolt-Dark surf music with themes ranging from evil clowns to zombies to Gangster violence
Ghostriders in the Sky, has been done performed by many artists Dick Dale and the Legendary Stardust Cowboy do my favorite versions of it.
Dead Boys-Son of Sam

Fuckin' Yankees!!!

The Famous Monsters have two cds out. Both are loaded with moster themed music.
The Monster Mash compilation (on vinyl)
Titties and Beer-Frank Zappa must duel the devil to get back what he loves most
The Tortum Never Stops-Frank Zappa
The Mummies- the groups name alone merits them being included in this list. Their creepy sounding organ led instrumentals though definitely fit in with any Halloween show.
The Horror of Party Beach-Sloppy Seconds
Madness Invasion Compilations (vinyl)-These have tons of great tracks ranging from Martians to werewolves. I think it might also have some movie clip samples as well but I might be confusing it with another comp.

More to come,

AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You knew I'd recall at least ONE MORE Halloween ditty!
Actually, I can recall at least TWENTY more, but the most important one as far as 'CSB is concerned is:

"No Costume, No Candy" by THE SWINGIN' NECKBREAKERS!

If that tain't a Halloween song for the twenty-first century, then monsters don't mash!!
As for at least a FEW more Halloweeny toonies, we can also add:
>"Killer Klowns From Outer Space" and "Booby Trap", by The Dickies.
>"Nosferatu", by Blue Oyster Cult.
>"She's The Witch", by the Sonics.
>"Modrenicht", by Iowaska.
>"I'm A Vampire", by Future Bible Heros.
>"Werecow", by Flippy T. Fishhead.
>"Swamp Witch", by Jim Stafford.
A particularly obscure one is "Cyclops", by either David Small or David Little. A lot of the most obscure 'Ween songs were exclusive to the old Doctor Demento programs, like "Vampire Frogs" and "Monster Rap/It's Alive!".
Of course, always remember what Ministry tells us:
"Every day IS Halloween!"
And as always:

Sorry, I meant Syd, not Sys in that post above.
And of course, there's "Frankenstein" by the New York Dolls (or is it Edgar Winter?). Maybe even "All Tomorrow's Parties" by the Velvet Underground and Nico ("What costume shall the poor girl wear...?").

Oh, brother -- NOW YOU'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't mention Halloween without yours truly, THE BARON NIGHTWOLF, elucidating upon the subject. I've heard the Frogs' early stuff in that vein (literally!), and that was their earliest stuff -- afore all the "gay or no way" shtuff. Besides the Misfits, there is one band I usually play on my annual Halloween radio spot with Dave Kosky called THE 3-D INVISIBLES. Off of Neurotic Bop Records from the latter '80s, all of their music is horrorshow-Halloween-subject-mattered, with songs like: 'I Walked With A Zombie', 'Frankenstein Stomp', 'Moon Over Transylvania', 'Dinner With Leatherface', 'Plan 9 From Outer Space', 'Werewolf Party', and various others. They are a very rare find.
Other obscure and non-obscure Halloween tricks-and-treats of mine include:

> 'Vampire Beavers', by Joe Hall and the Continental Drift.
> 'Riboflavin-Flavored, Noncarbonated, Polyunsaturated Blood', by 45-Grave.
> 'GooGooMuck', 'Teenage Werewolf', 'Human Fly', and various others by the Cramps.
> 'Monster Hash', by the Toyez.
> 'Teenage Frankenstein', by Alice Cooper
> 'The Elvis Zombie', by Pinkslip Daddy.
> 'Curse Of The Hearse', by Terry Tenney.
> 'Maggots', by Kendra Smith.
> 'Blood Makes Noise' and 'In Liverpool', by Susanne Vega.
> 'Ghost Power', by the Cords.
> 'Return To The Haunted House', by the Fleshtones.
> 'Do The Freddy', by the Elm Street Group, featuring Robert "Freddy" Englund.
> 'Vampire Rock', by the Fabulous Poodles.
> 'The Devil's In My Car', by the B-52s.
> 'Ding Dong, The Witch Is Dead', by the Fifth Estate.
> 'I Want To Bite Your Hand', by Gene Moss (he may have also done a song called 'Transylvania-45789').
> 'Pet Semetary', by the Ramones.
> 'Ghost On The Road', by Guadalcanal Diary.
> 'Abigail's Ghost', by Green On Red.
> 'The Wolfbane Blooms', by the Nomads.
> 'Werewolf', by the Frantics.
> 'Where Wolfmen Lurk', by Gas Huffer.

Yeeska! Need I go on?! By the by, I am scheduled to make my annual 'CSB appearance this coming Halloween from 7 to 9 PM. So until then or whenever:

The Frogs' "Death Songs" album! They're mostly known for their gay supremacy music, but they also did a self-released album of songs about killing their audience with the help of their warlocks, gargoyles ("the gargoyles are my friends, NOT YOUR'S!"), and dragons.

And definitely the cover of the Geto Boys song, "Mind Playing Tricks on Me", as done by Atom and His Package.

And any version/remix of the music from the Castlevania videogame series. Especially as done by the Minibosses.

"The Halloween Puppet Show" by Flossie and the Unicorns.

And I could go on, but I won't...
