I listened to the BBC for years but the BBC World Service is cutting back on its shortwave radio broadcast service to Eastern Europe since 1) shortwave reception sucks and 2) we can listen to it over the internet.

Anyway, the BBC World Service used to start its broadcasting day to SE Europe with a melody called "Lily Valera." Irish nationalists disliked it because it is a song associated with the Protestant military victory there in the 17th century. The BBC stopped using it, after several decades, a few years ago.
