Argh! The Frogs did come to town again, but they didn't do the acoustic duo performance, so I wonder what that was supposed to be like.

Saxon back in November of 2005. They were supposed to play at the Beachland Ballroom, but couldn't get their visas in time to tour. They haven't been back since either. They haven't played the U.S. since 2002. It sucks. Saxon rules!

it might sound gay, but the Hives were supposed to play the Agora like 4 years ago and i was so pissed that it was cancelled! and it was never rescheduled either.

i love the Hives though. i wonder what ever happened to them. maybe someone found out they weren't really Swedish or something and it killed their career.

Oh yeah, I forgot about my more recent one...

The Blow - 5/2007 - "The headliner of the show (Electrelane, who just isn't as awesome as the Blow--why didn't people realize that?) got picked up to go on tour with the Arcade Fire."

I just don't understand why the Blow couldn't have just headlined the show. I'm sure they would have had a good draw. Even in Cleveland.

ugh! i KNEW it was too good to be true!

I guess I only go see responsible hardworking bands... cause no bands that I have wanted to see have ever cancelled.

However, my grandmother and I really wanted to go see "Forest Gump" when it came out on theaters but things just kept on happening when we tried to go see it.

1st time the electricity went out in the theater.
The second time... the theater people told us that according to the fire department we had to leave because something was wrong with the sprinkler and fire system.
The third time and the only time this has ever happened to me... the film burned in the projector.

Once I finally saw the movie, it was not worth the hassle....I had a very similar experience with the movie "Congo" also... once again big disappointment and not worth the troubles I endured.

Now that I think about it back when I was 9 or ten I was suppose to go see Techno Tronic with my mom in Chile. It was a three day festival... 1st day was David Bowie the Second was Techno Tronic and the the third day was Eric Clapton. Techno Tronic never showed up... I don't even know if they ever made it to the country. Anyways I was pissed... as pissed as a nine year old could be at the time. At least I got to see Bowie and even then (I think then more than now) I thought he was cool (I think because of labyrinth.)

I was looking forward to that Odawas show last month too. In about 1999 or so Hum was supposed to play the Euclid Tavern, and when we got there there was a sign on the door saying they cancelled. That was a bummer.

I had tickets to see The Stooges/Sonic Youth in Detroit and tickets to see KISS/Aerosmith the following night. I believe this was 2003. I was at the airport practically getting on the plane when that power outage hit the Northeast. Needless to say we didn't make it up and both shows were rescheduled. That was a major bummer. I made it back up for the KISS/Aerosmith show, but unfortunately nothing as good and convenient as The Stooges/Sonic Youth playing the next day was gonna happen.

The next biggest disappointment would have been Motorhead not showing up to open fur Alice Cooper in 1987. They didnt make it through customs.

oh yeah how about the other day when Erin B told me that the Hives were coming (see my first post under this thread) and then TODAY she told me it's ALREADY been cancelled again!!!

this is kind of ridiculous but funny in a way.

My flatmate and I had tickets, and when it was
cancelled, we got refunds (I think it was $3.50.)
I'm sure they would have brought much more as
memorabilia in later years!

Front Row theatre (a long-running, but now
demolished, theatre-in-the-round located in
Highland Heights) once. I don't remember who
else was on the bill. You didn't miss much:
Ya Kid K, the rather butch female rapper who
actually rapped on their recordings (not the
model Felly, who was on the covers) rapped over
some tapes. I don't remember if they had any
live keyboards or drums. Then,after the set,
she tried to pick up my date.

Y'wanna hear about a REAL disappointment? February 1982. The Cars were to appear at the old Colosseum, with Nick Lowe and his Noise-to-Go opening. Well, we didn't have a lot of real global warming back then, so much of the bands' equipment couldn't be delivered in time due to heavy snow and wind. Well, get this -- Nick Lowe made an emergency deal with the old Agora so that ticket-holders could see an impromptu performance at the Agora the next evening -- AND I DIDN'T FIND OUT ABOUT IT UNTIL THE DAY AFTER!

Well, I wouldn't have been able to make the show anyway, as I had play-practice that week.

And get this: it was a Factory Theatre show I was rehearsing for -- AND NICK LOWE AND THE OTHERS WERE PERFORMING THAT NIGHT JUST ONE PARKING-LOT AWAY!

TALK ABOUT YOUR TOUGH LUCK!

I guess it is cruel to be kind.
