Geez they sound like my ex wife's family. Anyways here is some trivia.

Not all US Prez swore on the bible.

Muslims Revere Jesus and his forefathers (Jews). Thus Swearing on the Koran Vs. Swearing on the bible should be a non issue.

There seems to be a relationship in the US between "born - again" Christians, high obesity rates and infidelities.

Eric Schlosser

See below for more info

Prez and their bibles

George Washington ad-libbed the " So help me G-d" in the oath. It is not written.

--President John Quincy Adams placed his hand on a law book rather than the
Bible in 1825.

--President Franklin Pierce affirmed his oath to uphold the Constitution without
using a holy book in 1853.

--President Theodore Roosevelt did not use a Bible for his first oath of office in

--President Herbert Hoover, citing his Quaker beliefs, placed his hand on a Bible
but affirmed rather than swore an oath in 1929.

The Koran and Jesus.

Jesus is one in a succession of highly revered prophets, including Abraham and Moses, in the Koran. The Koran, which is broken into 114 Surahs (chapters) and verses, describes Jesus's miracles (5:110) and his special relationship as "the word" and "the spirit of God" (4:171). Muslims believe Christ was taken alive into heaven and will return at Judgement Day (4:159).

About Israel

"League of Nations approved the British Mandate of Palestine with the intent of creating a "national home for the Jewish people".[7] In 1947, the United Nations approved the partition of the Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab.[8] The Arab League rejected the plan, but on May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence. The new country's victory in the subsequent Arab-Israeli War expanded the borders of the Jewish state beyond those in the UN Partition Plan."

Prior to the State of Israel forming the only Jews living there since "Biblical times" were/ are the Sephardic which are treated as lower class citizens in Israel by the Ashkenazi Jews. The Sephardin have predominant Arabic features and have significant differences in customs with the Ashkenaz especially when it comes to passover. Most generalization about Jews come from the Ashkenaz who resided mainly in Europe prior to WW II. With the exception of Spain, Portugal and France.

Yiddish is spoken by the Ashkenaz. Some Spaniard/ Portuguesse Sephardic Jews speak Ladino which is a Judeo-romanic hybrid. "Yamakah" in yiddish means Kepah in Hebrew which is that little coaster that some male jews wear on their heads.

The Girl was right about the foundation of God and this country. Religion was one of the reasons this country was founded... via religious persecution via the Church of England. The church of England was founded By Henry the VIII cause the papacy would not grant him a divorce. Catholicism would have not existed if it was not for the polytheist in the roman empire. In it's infancy Christianity did not differ much from Judaism which was considered a different Jewish sect. When trying to get converts it is argued that Christianity abandoned circumcision and dietary laws in order to get more converts in the area.

Which brings me to the conclusion that religion will change its rules and its ame when it is convenient.

As an avowed atheist and reformed Catholic, I hate religious pressure more than anything. An affirmation is sufficient. My opinion is that, under true separation of church and state, only affirmations should be allowed in legal proceedings, leaving holy books of any kind to not be involved in any kind of government activity. Also, not all of us agree with "In God We Trust" on our money. Regardless of the fact that it was a bad Stryper album (is there any other kind?), it is offensive to atheists and polytheists. I sure as hell don't trust anything vaguely religious with my loot, as religion is always concerned with your money.

The vast amount of ignorance displayed in the USA never ceases to completely astound me. As a sometimes practicing Roman Catholic, religious rhetoric, in particular, Christian rhetoric, truly offends me. These same "practitioners" of this faith are spewing hatred, bigotry, and ignorance in the name of Christ, which, if you truly are Christian, know that this is in DIRECT contradiction to what the man and his teachings stood for. Our country was founded as a direct result of religious "PERSECUTION" and these idiots are too stupid to realize that this is exactly what they are doing when they insist on shoving their beliefs down our throats and demonizing others who's religion or views differ from their own warped ones.

I'm not going to freak out if I see a cross or Nativity scene somewhere, but I do believe that the VERY good concept of separation of church and state is being flushed down the toilet by these religious radicals. I absolutely loathe being "forced" into an opening prayer or "invocation" at a government function. The actual practice of religion (any religion) should have no place in government.

Catholicism is deeply intertwined in my Mexican heritage so I don't think I will ever become truly agnostic as there are some very beautiful cultural traditions I hope to pass on to my daughter. However, religious and cultural intolerance/ignorance is not going to be one of them.

If one notices, these people cannot or will not speak proper American English or revere the First Amendment; a general lack of intellect. My mother has this bad case of denial about many things and is convinced that my life would improve if I prayed. However, it is interesting to note that, because of my studies, I know more about the historical ignorance of religious zealots and the problems they have caused and faced throughout history. Sadly, I also know way more about the Bible than my entire extended family combined, although most attend Catholic mass regularly. I can and do use this collection of mythology to defeat their own bitching--beat them at their game, so to speak. They are bad enough; then you get these zealot assholes like in the video, giving utmost underscoring to the term "Blind Faith". Chances are, I won't agree with anyone's views, but one should at least be informed and well-rounded before they choose to subscribe to a doctrine, ideology, etc. Otherwise, they are truly ignorant
