Krauty---you said today that "Neu! 2" was the first remix album, and you may be right...

Lifted from Wikipedia: "It was recorded in January 1973 at Windrose-Dumont-Time Studios, Hamburg, Germany, mixed in February 1973 at Windrose-Dumont-Time Studios, Hamburg, Germany, and released in 1973 by Brain Records."

Also half-inched from the big W:

"In 1973, at least two producers, Lee "Scratch" Perry and the Aquarius studio engineer/producer team of Herman Chin and Errol Thompson simultaneously recognized that there was an active market for this new "dub" sound and consequently they started to release the first strictly 100% dub albums. Lee Perry released Blackboard Jungle Dub in the Spring of 1973. It is considered a landmark recording of this genre."

Who's the winner? The listeners, I suppose...I didn't find out until today that Klaus Dinger had passed away, but I've been hitting the Neu! discs hard recently anyway...intuition? Listen to tracks two and three of "Neu! 2"...pure magic.

Krauty (and any other Motorik fans):

Here is a link to a WFMU program that has a fine Motorik song by Sue Garner and Rick Brown (both former members of Fish and Roses, and Run On):

Slightly off-topic, but here are some clips to Modern Lovers tracks. Note that the Motorik is mostly in the bass and organ parts...
