The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio will join hip-hop scholar and Rap Sessions Executive Director Bakari Kitwana in a community dialogue about hip-hop and the 2008 presidential election.
Rap Sessions is a national tour presented in a town hall style to engage discussion on the most difficult challenges facing the hip-hop generation.
Speakers:
Bakari Kitwana is executive director of Rap Sessions and the author of The Hip- Hop Generation: Young Blacks and the Crisis in African American Culture.
Rosa Clemente is the executive director of REACH Hip- Hop and an organizer with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement.
Billy Wimsitt is the co-founder of the League of Pissed Off Voters and author of Bomb the Suburbs and No More Prisons.
M-1 also goes by the name Mutulu Olugbala. The last name he shares with his rhyme comrade comes from the Yoruba culture and means, for the love of people.
Maya Rockeymoore is CEO of Global Policy Solutions and adjunct professor in the Women in Politics Institute at American University.
