On Synesthesia this week, both Dr. Sinister and Big Johnson claimed that Racist Caller is dead. They said that he committed suicide and that "his real name was literally John Doe", as the good Doctor put it. I just went to cleveland.com to look for Doe's obituary, but couldn't find it. If there's any proof that Racist Caller is dead on the internet, could someone please provide a link?

I was also at the birthday party (sadly, I left before Dricore arrived), and I kept in touch with Gilly on the phone while he was living at the nursing home. Although he was very open about his condition, it seems that he was downplaying it as much as he could. He was very brave throughout the process. Rick wasn't perfect, but he was my friend, and I'll miss him a lot.
P.S. Due to working over

Yeah, they haven't put out a lot of stuff yet, but "(S)pain" is one of the best local singles I've heard in years. For proof, hear it at their My Space page. Thanks to Tired John for introducing to Sun God on The Big O.

Let me repeat what I wrote at the new 669 forum:

The Outer Limits. The 1963-65 original, not the (usually crappy) 1995-2002 revival. I can't think of another series that has done a better blend of style (the monsters, the arty cinematography, the great music, the whole atmosphere of the show) and substance (the thought-provoking writing).

One of the things I like about living in the Cleveland area is those "500 Feet Ahead' signs you see in front of major intersections in suburban Cuyahoga County. I've rarely seen anything similar elsewhere, and when I do the signs don't look nearly as good. I like the "500 Feet Ahead" signs, and I wish more cities had them. Anyone agree--or disagree?
P.S. Enjoy my first poll, everyone!

No, I am not making this up.
I'm sure some of you remember Lawson's, the once-omnipresent convenience store chain who ran the famous "Roll On Big O" commercials. While Lawson's disappeared from Ohio in 1985, the stores still exist in Japan, and they've been there since 1975. To learn more, check out the Wikipedia entry at ) and the English page of Lawson's Japanese corporate site at . Finally

Actually, she's been back for a while now, but no one said anything about it. She'll be filling in Tuesdays 9-11 AM during the summer. Let's all give her a warm WCSB re-welcome!

On last night's show, Dr. Sinister said that some other WCSB host (he didn't say who, of course) thought I had stalker-like tendencies. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if I offended anyone, and I agree with the good doctor's diagnosis of me: I may be a loser, but I'm not a creep. ;-)

Suggestions:
1. Music in Esperanto.
2. Polkas.
3. Music from Australia and New Zealand, especially Aborigine/Maori music.
And no, these are not jokes.

Thanks for your quick response, xpat. I agree with you on GEMA, Soundexchange and similar organizations. They seem to be little more than middlemen who manipulate the system for their own personal profit. Fortunately, they (and the corporate labels they represent) are becoming irrelevant in an era where major acts like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails are able to manage their own affairs. If the cor

I'm trying to fully comprehend this. Die Tödliche Doris can't offer their own music, which they own, over the net without paying GEMA? Isn't GEMA supposed to be paying them? If I'm misunderstanding the situation, please correct me.
P.S. I assume this is the Die Tödliche Doris you're referring to:

I would definitely call in more often if I were awake at the time. But if I can make an effort to get up at 5 AM for Breakfast Burrito, I can do the same for WCSB World News Tonight--even though I'm always up till 2 AM the previous morning listening to WCSB's incredible Sunday night programming.

For those who don't already know: Cool Chicana has moved her Breakfast Burrito show to Fridays at 5-7 AM. (Yes, this is the same timeslot that she used to have on Tuesdays.) Nomoneymark says check it out! And yes, this is a call to action. ;-)

Actually, an entire (hilarious) book has been written about this subject: I Hate Myself and Want to Die: The 52 Most Depressing Songs You've Ever Heard by Tom Reynolds. (Read a review at .) Of course, Reynolds' choices are a lot more mainstream than Krauty's...
