What song does the entire world love but you can't stand?
For me it's Jimmy Buffett's "Cheeseburger in Paradise". I don't know why, but it drives me insaaaane. I hate that song.

I like a lot of reggae, but Bob Marley's voice bugs me, and actually, though his band was proficient, I don't like their music too much, either. And whenever I hear the message that there might be material that some listeners may find objectionable, I get the weird feeling that the DJ might play the Dave Matthews Band...

2) Even Tesco Vee loved Abba, though I don't know why.
3) James is right again. My big problem @ Michigan State in the late '90's was the homogenous loving of shit like Buffett and Matthews.
4) Beastie Boys always sucked.
5) This is the same as the fucking smite list.

Again. Beastie Boys ALWAYS sucked. A failed punk group, 3 Jews rapping about hood life never struck me as relevant...even when I was 8! Journey and especially VH wrote fantastic music! How about Peter, Bjorn, and John; or Belle and Sebastian? Or Cat Stevens--even BEFORE he became Hindi or whatever? Oh yeah, Goldfrappe.

Commercially...It will always be a toss up between Buffet & Meatloaf. On the alt side...I'd have to say Fishbone...other than that, I really can't think of anything else because I DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT EVERYONE LOVES! Usually, if everyone loves it, I detest it. (so there)
Oh, lets not forget the Spanish music scene...#1 on my hatelist would be the "tropirock" group -Mana. Followed by a toss-up between Paulina Rubio and Alejandra Guzman.

But I cannot stand Neutral Milk Hotel. There was a point in like 1999 or 2000 when I think I had to hear that band like every second of every day. It was like a horrible nightmare where they were pumping it out of traffic lights, passing buses, and trees.
I also dislike most Bob Marley even though I like reggae. It's too commercial. There's some good stuff, but... yeah, the voice.
cat stevens- hate him too.
abba's ok, though. they have kitsch value.
Ooh, I also really hate Herman's Hermits. Fuck, they're terrible.

I think 3rd Bass is underrated...I encourage anyone who cares to listen to their "Derelicts of Dialect" album. After they split, MC Serch and Prime Minister Pete Nice each did solo albums. I don't remember much about Serch's disc, but PMPN has tracks sampling Can and the Velvet Underground.

Here's a shock: I am a metal guy, but I'm really tired of Slayer. I haven't listened to more than 1 play each of 2 different songs in over 6 months. Sure, they were forerunners, but even when their best shit came out, there were always better groups.
