I can't believe that no one has mentioned "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead. The setting of the music video is in a grocery store!

Some of us don't want to look at music videos...

I watched music videos for entertainment in the mid-to-late '90s. There wasn't much else to do where I lived.

Remember that the film "Repo Man" has a strong yet warped Pick-N-Pay connection: "It's all about spacing of the cans."

But I sure don't miss "generic food".

They also had Otto's weird co-worker singing the 7-Up commercial in the grocery store. "Feeling 7-Up, I'm Feeling 7-Up...."

I used to also associate the Spin Doctors with going to the grocery store. However, when I got all of my wisdom teeth pulled in boot camp the song was on the radio. So now I associate the song with the sounds of cracking teeth, a lot of blood, drills, and a numb ass mouth (they didn't put me under, I just got my mouth numbed by a ton of novicane with needles that hurt worse than getting my teeth pulled).

I don't know anything about grocery store songs, but I do know that _Giant Eagle_ in Stark county goes out of its way to market Ohio wines and _Great Lakes Brewery_ products, unlike Walmart.

I think Giant Eagle should have a thing where for every song you know with in the time you are in the store, you get 1 dollar off your groceries.

I think the one that always gets me is the "muzak" version of the Sneaker Pimps' "Post Modern Sleaze." I cannot count the number of times I've heard that at Giant Eagle and Topps (when Topps was still around).

Speaking of Muzak...

There is a DEVO album that I believe is called "Devo for easy listening" I am not 100% about the title but...

Legend has it that once at the height of their career DEVO realized that it was only a matter of time before one of their song came out in Muzak version. They seem not to have a problem with this as long as Muzak would allow DEVO to compose the songs themselves. For whatever reason Muzak refused, So DEVO made the album basically just to thwart them. Since there already would be an instrumental version of DEVO songs Muzak would not have the rights to compose them and call it their own.

i've been noticing a lot of depeche mode in giant eagle lately.

it was pretty swell when i was there last week and heard "everything counts," with the chorus of "grabbing hands" as i was rifling through their apples and bananas bins. like a soundtrack, following my every move to enhance my food browsing experience.

Many people don't know this, but Ohio is #3 is wine production among the states, after CA and NY.

How much pot did you smoke before going to the store that day?
