I have never been there. Please, someone describe what type of music they feature. Is it hard to book a show there? What is the capacity? etc. etc. etc.

Thanks so much.

Usually really bad, obnoxiously loud punk. Small.

that's a really bad, obnoxiously uninformed answer.
and it's not that small.

i've been there for experimental shows.

i like places that are open to experimental shows.

the thing i like the best about this place is that it's broken up into two separate rooms: the bar and the performance space. the bar noise doesn't bleed through which is pretty critical for minimal-sound volume sets. if it's super loud in the performance room, you can go into the bar to have a conversation or escape for awhile.

other descriptions: dark. arm wrestling. nice bartenders. street parking. small outdoor back patio for smokers. possibility for good sound. most shows are punk/hard rock. best mural in town.

There is also skateboarding on days without shows, good avocado, tomato, basil on ciabatta sandwiches and homeless guys masturbating on the couch while watching porn on the projector.

Now that's Classy!

You guys make it sounds so inviting. Are you familiar with Annabell's in Akron? Is it comparable to that?

no one should ever listen to me because I am inherently facetious.

i went to Annabell's once several years ago - not sure if it's the same as it was then.

It's dirty, dark, hot and stinky. BUT, they have some of the best shows in Akron. Plus, often times the shows are free. It's been the same for years now. It's cleaned up a bit, but not much.

We have never had much luck in Cleveland. So, I was just trying to find some new places to play.

If you want dirty, dark, hot and stinky...look no further than The Spitfire. They are small, but there is almost never a cover and the bands that play there have been consistantly good, punk & hardcore. Don't know if that is your style but it might be worth checking out.

I walk past Now Eat Ass 1,000 a week and have been in a bunch. The scene and regulars are usually lame and have pisspoor taste in music. Only Shat has rocked that place (OK, I missed Toxic Holocaust). It is tiny--I have taken many shits bigger than that.

So, I guess we should just stay away from this venue!

In defense of Now That's Class... The Loon's bowel movements can be ginormous. He is completely off the Kuric scale.

uh...

the place is not tiny. it's probably close to the size of the beachland tavern but configured into a rectangle instead of a square. might be a little larger than the tavern.

don't know about the regulars.

yeah, when i went to annabelle's it was small and stuffy with bad sound - haven't had that experience at NTC, but i've only been there a handful of times for noise/experimental shows.

i wouldn't write the place off based on one person's comments, but i also wouldn't expect a large turnout at that place ( or anywhere ) unless my band had a following already and/or was opening for someone who has a following.

the main complaint i have about (some of) the regulars is that they have pissed several acts off to the point that they have cut their sets short and/or stormed off the stage. not cool.

LL & CJ: I know it's petty to be a geometric stickler, but I find that it's pretty difficult for something to be a square, but not be a rectangle. Perhaps you meant an oblong rectangle. I expect more from someone who would drop this:

"I did go to this show. I hydroplaned the entire way. SOT played one of the best sets I've seen, although I say that admitting that I tend to like the jazzier more icosahedral line ups like this one better than the harsh rocker mutated-polyhedral sets. Personal taste."

not that jay reatard or king khan/bbq are any example of easy-going, delightful people to deal with.

I have come to the conclusion that Jay Reatard has a uniform band requirement. Everyone in all his bands must have black Flying V and have the same hair as he does.

I also believe that one of his hair styles pay homage to one of the 3 stooges. So far I have seen him in a Moe style hair style and currently he is rockin' the Larry.

Ok after reading all of this bla bla bla smelly dirty bla bla bla about Now That's Class I found out that Behold the Arctopus is playing there on September 9th. I just saw Behold at the Ravari Room in Columbus and these guys are amazing.

This place cannot be that bad (or small for that matter) if they are landing acts like this.

Cool

Or in other words, it's a good place to go if you want to puke on somebody.

Or like if you really dug the movie "Another State of Mind."

I usually have fun there!

I remember when Ryan was puked on during Laundry Room Squelchers. That was hilarious.

Now That's Class is the only bar/venue I've known to be okay with controlled chemical fires during a performance but give you shit about dumping baby powder on the floor.
