Longshot: Can someone help me identify this song?
June 16, 2010 08:31PM
A little over a year ago I was driving home sometime after midnight on what I believe was a Saturday night. I was tuned in to CSB and heard this long song, kinda heavy, kinda psychy, and the only discernible lyrics were "Sniffin' glue" and this was sung repeatedly throughout the song. The song was about 8-10 minutes in length. Does anyone know what this tune could be? It's been driving me batty. Bananas. Nuts, etc! Any help in identifying this song would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm just deducing this from Google, but there's a song called "Sniffin' Glue" by the Exploding Hearts that could be what you're looking for. Do the lyrics below fit what you remember? (The only other one that seemed to get a similar amount of hits was "Sniffin' Glue" by All Else Fails. If you Google it, it should be near the top of the list):

Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue,
You found out what you're missing.
Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue,
It's better than kissing.
Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue
You found out what you're missing,
Sniffin' glue.

Sniffin' glue,
Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Thought I'd get my head into that tip,
Then I'll have a sniff then I'll sniff it again.
I got to get away from this concrete high rise dusty sniffin' glue.

'Cause I'm sniffin' for pleasure,
Sniffin' for kicks.
Sniffin' for a lift,
Sniffin' for a buzz.
Sniffin' for fun,
What can you do about it?
Sniffin' glue.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.

I can see something that you can't see.
I can do something that you can't do.
I can do see something, I can see you,
Sniffin' glue.

Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue,
You doubt on what you're missing.
Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue,
It's better than kissing,
Sniffin' glue, sniffin' glue,
You doubt on what you're missing,
Sniffin' glue.

Sniffin' for pleasure,
Sniffin' your cheek,
Sniffin' for pleasure,
Sniffin' for a buzz,
What can you do about it?
Sniffin' glue,
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Sniffin' you,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

(Said you wanted too...)
Sniffin' glue!

Hey johnharr, thanks for the research and the response. I probably should've mentioned before that I'd exhausted all search engine options before coming here and tracked down all songs listed above only to find out that they were not the songs in question. Also I should probably clarify that when I said "only discernible lyrics" I meant that those were the ONLY lyrics in the song. Just the phrase "Sniffin' glue" repeated over and over throughout the duration of the song. The song is also definitely not "Glue Man" by Fugazi. A friend of mine said to me that the song in question sounds like it could've been performed by The Mike Gunn, and from what little I've heard of them it sounds like it could be a possibility, but it's a tedious proposition to have to wade through their entire catalog just to locate this one song. I thank you again for your response. It was very much appreciated.

Warmest regards,
Potatoes

At first I thought you were referring to the Brian Jonestown Masacre song, Hyperventilation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69r4cA7EEgE. Of course, that has a few more lines in it other then "Sniffing Glue".

Baghwan, Cleveland's Hindu Biker Band, Has a song called Been a Long Time Since I sniffed Some Glue, but it doesn't fit the rest of your description.

The Ramones had, Now I wanna Sniff Some Glue, which is way too short and power punk to be your song..

I can't think of too much else. There are a bunch listed online at some song lyric sites but I didnt' see anything that quite fit your description. The Hyperventilation, seems to be the closest to what you described.

I'll keep thinking about it.
